Charles E. Giarratana, M. D., F. A. C. O. G.
 Dr. Giarratana is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, he attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. Dr. Giarratana returned to Florida for his medical training, attending the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he earned his M. D. degree in 1985. He completed both his internship and residency training at North Carolina Baptist Hospital and Bowman Gray University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, serving as Chief Resident in his fourth year of training. In 1989, after completing his residency, he moved to Denver with his family. After five years in group practice in Aurora, Dr. Giarratana decided to open a solo practice. He moved his practice to Highlands Ranch in 1999.
Dr. Giarratana has a comprehensive gynecologic practice, based on proven therapies, which offer the best chance for successful management of gynecologic problems with the lowest chance for harm to his patients. He has a strong interest in vaginal surgery. He favors vaginal hysterectomy, when hysterectomy becomes necessary, as this hysterectomy procedure leaves no visible abdominal scars and allows women to return to their normal lives more rapidly, with less pain, compared with other types of hysterectomy. He is also comfortable with surgical repair of genital prolapse, again preferring the vaginal route for such surgeries because of shortened recovery time and more natural restoration on normal anatomy.
Dr. Giarratana is comfortable managing both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies. Along with his Physician Assistant, Colleen M. Wheeler, he offers in-office ultrasound services and antenatal fetal testing when necessary to care for a complicated pregnancy. He was given the opportunity to manage severely complicated pregnancies during his obstetrical training, receiving most of his training in a Level 3 facility that received referrals from within a five state area.
Dr. Giarratana’s wife, Connie, is a pediatrician with Greenwood Pediatrics. Together they have three children and a yellow lab, Phoebe. Dr. Giarratana’s interests include skiing, travel and a long, difficult struggle with the guitar.
Colleen M. Wheeler, PA-C
 Colleen Wheeler joined Comprehensive Women's Care in August, 2001, after completing her Physician Assistant training at the University of Colorado. She was raised in Littleton, Colorado, and attended Colorado State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in biology. She enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle with her husband and their dog, Roxy.
Colleen performs complete gynecologic care for her patients including annual pap smears, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, pelvic ultrasound, and contraceptive counseling. She has a special interest in adolescent gynecology. She assists Dr. Giarratana in major gynecologic surgeries and co-manages all aspects of pregnancy, including assisting at the time of Cesarean section.
